4th Annual Community Choral Festival!
It is time to start getting excited about... our 4th Annual Community Choral Festival! This year our festival will be held on Thursday, March 3rd, and it will be an all day event. Our Choristers, Chorus and PROS will spend the morning doing some musical workshops, and the afternoon will be rehearsals and the day will end with a concert.
I am very very excited to announce that this year our Choral Festival has grown quite a bit, and there are many new things about this event! Be sure to read all the way to find out every exciting details about this year's festival!
To start, the festival this year is at a new location - it will be at NJCU (New Jersey City University)! How exciting that we get to sing at an university? The theater we will be performing is so big and beautiful!
Secondly, our guests this year are amazing. We have two guest choirs this year - The American Boychoir Training Choir and the FDA Harlem Vocal Ensemble. They are both beautiful performing ensembles, and in very different styles. I know we are going to learn much from both groups.

Thirdly, we have 3 guest clinicians that we will get to work with! The director of the American Boychoir Training Choir, Mr. Fred Meads, will be leading us in a vocal production workshop. The director of the FDA Harlem Vocal Ensemble, Mr. Darius Kennebrew will teach us a song that we can all sing together at the concert. Last but not least, our own Ms. Joan Litman (one of the founders of MSS, as well as our Music Educator Emeritus) will lead us in a musical movement and games session.
The morning workshops and rehearsals will end with a concert at 2:00p.m., at the Margaret Williams Theater at NJCU. While the morning session is open only to students, the afternoon concert will be open to public. Parents, families and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend! I know it will be beautiful.
