This is Rocket Science
The fourth book I read was called This Is Rocket Science: true stories of the risk-taking scientists who figured out ways to explore beyond earth. This interesting book was written by Gloria Skurzynski. It is about scientists reaching new levels in space and technology, and how their journeys brought ideas to new heights. In this book, there were a lot of technical terms about rocket science that I didn't know, which made the book hard to read; but even though it was hard to read, what I was able to understand was interesting. The journey to being a astronaut seems to be easy, but behind all the glory, we don't really see the sacrifices people have to make to become an astronaut. They risk their lives and many get hurt or killed during the process of getting ready to get to the moon. Being great is not easy. I recently saw a Michael Phelps Under Armor commercial that says, "It is what you do it the dark, that puts you in the light." I think this is very inspiring and makes you want to be the best. —MB
Shades of Gray
This book is set right after the civil war. The main character is a young boy named William Page. He finds himself an orphan right after the war ends and is sent to live on a farm in Virginia with his aunt and uncle. William’s father and brother were both killed by Yankees.
His sisters died of a disease called typhoid that spread from Yankee camps and his mother died of sadness. Will has hard feelings for the Yankee troops that tore through the south spreading diseases like the ones that killed his sister.
He feels bad that his aunt and uncle have to feed and cloth him when they are already so poor. —AP

Elizabeth was a lonely girl at her new school. She has a very unique power.
She got her power as a little girl. What she can do with her power no one is allowed to see her use it. The material repository is a home to the Grimm Collection; there is a secret room in the basement. Librarians lock powers down there, a fairy tale. Everyone is yet to discover. —AP
Enders Game
This book is about a boy named Ender Wiggin. He is selected by the military to save the world. He wears a monitor so that the heads of the military can see what he is doing. He is very good at the battle school, he gets so good that they won’t let him go to it anymore.
Earth really needs a war against the aliens because the aliens were planning to destroy all of human life. They throw Ender into an even harsher training camp. To throw away and find a diamond inside Ender or destroy him or kill him. Wiggins is the one for the job to end the war in peace and go home to his family. —AP
Copper Sun
A girl named Amari is a 15-year-old girl who lives in a remote place in Africa. The strangers are there to celebrate her welcoming, but those people aren’t just strangers they are murderers and slave traders. Amari’s life is destroyed. They have been beaten and put on a slave ship.
Amari is forced to watch people die and there is this 16-year-old named Caroline who is the head of the slaves, she beats them and all Amari can do is hope and fight for survival. —AP
