Merry Match and Merry Match Junior!
Many of you are aware that Merry Match is just around the corner! This year, Merry Match will take place on December 6, 7, & 8. For more information about how we are asking parents to be involved in Merry Match, please read this school blog (you also received a letter!). Right now, I would like to let you know how we are asking your child to participate in
Merry Match Jr.
Here’s how it works
During Merry Match, December 6, 7, & 8, students in grades K-8 are encouraged to make a contribution to their class Merry Match Jr. collection. On Monday, December 5th, your child will come home with a red envelope for them to put their Merry Match Jr. contribution in. This can be money (that they have earned or saved) or a prayer (that they have written or illustrated). Our goal is participation. The amount of money raised is not important. No prayer or amount is too small. The point is that we all come together to help our community.
At the end of the Merry Match Jr. (the same day Merry Match ends), the sum of the class collection will be matched using the Merry Match guidelines. That is, a class gift of $1-$99 will be matched with $100. Class gifts over $100 will be matched dollar for dollar. In addition, classes with 100% class participation will receive a bonus match of $100 -- all counted towards their class total.
Nurture the Joy of Giving
Service opportunities, like Merry Match Jr., are a way to develop a habit and to learn the joy of giving. Here are a few ways you can nurture the joy of giving in your child through the Merry Match Jr.

- Ask your child if they have any ideas about how they would like to participate. Have a conversation with your child about giving. Ask them how they think their contribution has a positive impact on their family, their community, and themselves.
- Encourage your child to think of a specific prayer to offer about their community and have them write it down or illustrate it.
- Help your child find ways to earn money by completing chores, helping around the house, or completing a task that would nurture their growth.
