Lenten Collection

Every year Mustard Seed School celebrates the Lenten Season through meditation and reflection.  We also collect money for a charity or other worthy causes, often organized by the eighth grade.  After much discussion the eighth grade agreed upon the Pencils of Promise charity as the organization to which we will do our Lenten collection.  You can click on the link to find out more about them but one of the main reasons this charity caught our attention was because 100% of donations is used to accomplish their mission (all operating costs and salaries are raised separately).  Here is a breakdown of what the money collected by the students could accomplish:

$100 - Teach children about sanitation and help them to have access to clean water
$250 - Educate a child
$500 - Support a teacher
$35000 - Build a school
