Produce Raps and Thanksgiving Celebrations

"Produce! What? Produce! What? We need squash, pumpkins, onions, carrots, green beans, apples, potatoes! Potatoes! Yeah, yeah! Potatoes! Thursday is salad day!"

Sixth grade students have thought about how they can build the community in their classroom and serve the community around them. They began by visiting the Hoboken Homeless Shelter, where they learned about the need for fresh produce to serve at the shelter's daily meals. 

They saw this need and began planning a service project to pair with the annual Thanksgiving Celebration.  Sixth graders have been hard at work making posters, doing raps, and even having a silent parade in the school to let people know that they are planning to gather produce for Thanksgiving meals at the shelter.
